Faculties, schools and departments

All students studying at De Montfort University (DMU) belong to one of the University’s four faculties.

DMU schools and departments within each Faculty are responsible for devising and delivering a wide programme of courses, fostering links with industry and leading commercial activities in their field.

• The Faculty of Art, Design and Humanities offers a combination of traditional and creative courses based within the innovative learning environment of DMU.

• Rated seventh out of 110 institutions across the country by The Times Good University Guide 2010 for student satisfaction DMU’s Faculty of Business and Law has excellent rated teaching and superb links with industry.

• The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences has courses for those who want to have an impact on daily life, improve lifestyles and make a difference to those around them.

• DMU students said the Faculty of Technology (Computing Sciences and Engineering) met and exceeded expectations in the 2008 National Student survey. Students study a range of courses in Media, Engineering, Business Computing, Technical Computing, Games and Forensics.

The latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) rated 43 percent of DMU’s research activity, (across 19 subject areas), as being 3-star (internationally excellent) and 4-star (world leading). This achievement demonstrates our taught courses and research degrees are relevant, contemporary and shaped by the most up-to-date insights and knowledge.
